Muaaakkkssss

Dettol, anyone?

Have you ever done something so stupid that you still can't believe that you did it? Something that you will still laugh your ass off when you think of it. Well, I did, on one peaceful night...

What actually happened was - I thought the small bottle of Dettol is the small bottle of sample Listerine and thus...you know what happened....(I still can't believe I was so blur blur)

The taste was horrible....People, if you plan to commit suicide, please don't choose this method. My tongue was numb at that time and I do not know how much water has been used to rinse. The only thought in my mind is - what if I can't taste anything anymore? I still have so many good food I have not eaten.

Funny, isn't it?

Kids, do not try it at home.....

10 annoying habits on the road...

1. Not turning on signal lights. Whether it's changing lanes, or most importantly when turning into a junction as there are cars waiting to comeout.....Be considerate...

2. Tail-gating or 'cucuk'ing ...even when the car in front is already driving at 120 kmp/h. Sometimes I got so annoyed, I purposely slow down to piss you tail gaters...muahaha

3. Driving 'on' the divider lines.....Come on....be sure whether you want to be in this lane or that lane and not on both....

4. Picking nose, popping zits, and other personal things are best be settled in the toilet and not while waiting at the traffic light

5. Using high beam or white lights...try to be the driver in another car and you will know how they feel...

6. Touch and Go literally means that you TOUCH AND GO....and not reach the booth, search for your TNG card, wind down the window, touch, wind up the window again and then only go....

7. Do not double park your car, even if it is just a while as you do not know how much you are blocking the traffic

8. Use your honk wisely and not UNNECESSARY

9. Do not stare, I mean really STARE at the car beside you at the traffic light.....this is especially for van or lorry drivers...sometimes just feel like showing them the middle finger...

10. MOTORCYCLISTS, please do not whiz in and outin between cars...I know you are good but no one is interested to see how good you are on the road...

Movies, movies and more movies....

Few movies I've watched lately:

Mr Bean
Typical Bean movie...nothing much to comment except that I like the first movie better. Nothing much to expect from this one.Go for it if you need some illogical laughs. Watch out for Spiderman's Green Goblin who potrays a vain, self-admiring director.

Rating : 1 out of 5 (yes, it's that bad)

The returner
Old movie starring Takeshi Kaneshiro. Why it's worth my time? Hehe....who can resist Takashi in black leather, cool sunglasses, extremely cool gun-handling skills and a big bike? *drool* Story about a girl from the future, sent to change history so that war will not occur. And the enemies? Alienation....The plot is a bit funny but hey, Takashi is worth the 2 hours....

Rating: 3 out of 5 (just because of Takashi)

Music and lyrics
First thing that came to my mind....Gosh, Hugh Grant is old. And errmmm....I cannot see or feel the chemistry between him and Drew Barrymore. The song at the beginning "Pop goes my heart" is entertaining though...And you can see Grant singing and strutting his cute dance moves but he's a tad too old for it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 (for the catchy tunes and beautiful love song)

Stranger than fiction
Cool movie...I'm beginning to like Will Ferrell. This movie is something diferrent from the normal movie and it's touching in the end. I almost thought that it will not be a happy ending...but the way they twist it, it's touching.

Rating: 3 out of 5

300
A feast for the eyes (well, except for the head-choppings and blood splashing here and there). The CG is so nice, it's like watching a PS2 game in action. Men in tights with six-packs (errmmm some even 8?) are nice to watch....Heheh...And at some parts, we are the only one who are laughing in the cinema. We found it funny somehow especially the elephants' part and the Persians with their magic....

Rating: 4 out of 5

Shooter
Another typical US conspiracy movie....Nothing much to anticipate from it...All pretty well plotted and fans of Mark Walhberg will definitely watch it. Sniping is fun....And more fun if you get a head-shot....:)

Rating: 2 out of 5

The Reaping
I've read of the 10 biblical plagues before but I can't really remember all of them and now, it's all in my head. The movie is not bad. You will like it if you are into movies about cult and signs from God and Hillary Swank....Hehe...Scientific explanations for all the miracles that had happened, even for the 10 plagues. A phrase I remembered from the movie- 'The only miracle is people keep believing'. But towards the end, the movie becomes a bit fake....With firestorm and stuff, it looks like a scene from 'The Day after Tomorrow'.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Can't wait for the months to come....so many good movies lining up - Spidey3, POTC, Shrek3, Oceans 13, RE 3: Extinction....

I have ganglion cyst on my wrist......

I was quite worried also when it appear two weeks back. Size of a small red bean. It's at the place where people normally cut their wrist in attempt of suicide. No worries, it's benign and hopefully will disappear over time. Taken from Wikipedia...

A ganglion cyst (also known as a bible bump) is a swelling that often appears on or around joints and tendons in the hand. The exact cause of the formation of ganglion cysts is still unknown but they are thought to be due to a degeneration of the fibrous tissue surrounding joints leading to a cystic structure. They occur most often in the 20–60 age group and are three times more common in females. They are benign but need to be differentiated from more serious conditions. They contain clear fluid similar to synovial fluid (a clear, lubricating, viscous fluid found in the synovial cavity of joints). One traditional method of treating a ganglion cyst was to strike the lump with a large, heavy book. And since even the poorest households usually possessed a Bible, that was what they used, which is how ganglion cysts came to be nicknamed "Bible Bumps" or sometimes "Gideon's Disease." This method of treatment is no longer recommended as patients risk damage to the surrounding area.

Doctor advised me not to use the wrist part so much...hmmm....

the 3C rule

Has anyone heard of the 3Cs rule?I was having lunch with a colleague and it was the first time I heard of it when he mentioned it.

First you try Convince them, if you can't then you attempt to Confuse them and if all else fails, you try to Con them.

Wakakkakaka......

Of Easter, Ching Ming and F1

Today is Easter Sunday. Christians around the world observed Holy week since last Sunday, starting with Palm Sunday, then Good Friday and today, Easter Sunday. It's a remembrance of the resurrection of Christ, which his followers believe occurred on the third day after his death by crucifixion.

This week is also the Ching Ming week, observed by the Chinese. These two weeks, we can see people thronging the graves of their ancestors, cleaning it and burning offerings to the departed. It's really amazing seeing all the paper offerings nowadays. Everything we have in the real world, we can find a paper replica of it to be burnt. From handphones, branded clothes (yes, they do have GUESS, Crocodile), accessories, tech stuff...you name it, it can be done.

Whatever festival it is, it does serve the purpose of bringing the family together....

No offense to F1 fanatics out there. But I really do not understand what's the pleasure of spending money and bearing the hot sun, just to watch fast cars zooming past when you can watch it in the comfort of your living room, and not to metion having a clearer view of the circuit? Guess, it's the same as why I would spend an amount of money going to Lee Hom's concert when I can watch it on DVD....hehehe...

Anyway, I am not a fan of F1. As much as I would like to learn to love it, I can't feel the excitement in it. Well, just heard that Fernando Alonso won the Malaysian Grand Prix....

That's what friends are for by Dionne Warwick

To my dearest friends....

And I never thought I'd feel this way
And as far as I'm concerned
I'm glad I got the chance to say
That I do believe
I love you

And if I should ever go away
Well, then close your eyes and try to feel
The way we do today
And then if you can remember

Keep smilin', keep shinin'
Knowin' you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Well, you came and opened me
And now there's so much more I see
And so by the way I thank you

Whoa, and then for the times when we're apart
Well, then close your eyes and know
These words are comin' from my heart
And then if you can remember, oh

Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
In good times, in bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
Oh, that's what friends are for

Whoa... oh... oh... keep smilin', keep shinin'
Knowin' you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Keep smilin', keep shinin'
Knowin' you can always count on me, oh, for sure'
Cause I tell you that's what friends are for
For good times and for bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for (That's what friends are for)

On me, for sure
That's what friends are for
Keep smilin', keep shinin'

Cruelty...

It's not my intention to spoil your day but pictures shown below are real situations happening everyday in our neighbourhood. I saw this advertisement by PAWS in The Star. It says:

"Life is a cruel game. Indeed, for millions of abandoned, tortured and diseased animals roaming the streets.
At PAWS, we help these cats and dogs start anew. We shelter, treat and vaccinate them. Then, we feed them with food and attention that they've been deprived of.
Sadly, we're also the same people who have to put them to sleep. The truth of the matter is, when overpopulation encroaches into the boundaries of space and means, we do what we must.
Help us make a difference. You can start by neutering your pet. It's the first step in reducing the overpopulation of stray animals. You'll also be doing Little Jimbo a favour, by adding a few hearty years to his life.
If you don't have a pet, PAWS is great place to start looking. Neutered and vaccinated, all they need is a loving home.
Of course, we also welcome volunteers and donationations in kind.
After all, at PAWS, our dream isn't to see these animals dead, but to give them a new life."

It shows a picture of an old man hugging a cute puppy. It really strike a chord in me.

I browse the SPCA site regularly to see their upcoming events. Read some news and saw some heart breaking pictures. Why do we need to do this to the animals that are suppose to be our pets? Man's best friend? If, in the first place you do not have the intention to care and love them, then do not own them. It is so sad to see owners treat the dogs as shown in the pictures below.

Some of them still can be saved but some are just too wounded that nothing can be done anymore. Please, love the animals as how we love ourselves and the people we care about.

Current fave song- Wo Ke Yi by Evan Yo

What captures me most is the first line of the chorus:-

~我可以 陪你去看星星~

Someone jokingly asked if I will fall in love if a guy approaches and said that line to me. I might feel touched but it takes more than that to fall in love.

Smallville

I've been a great fan of Smallville since the first season. For those who have not heard of the series, Smallville is the story of young Clark Kent before he becomes Superman.
Why do I like the series so much? Maybe because of Tom Welling who potrays the young Clark Kent and Kristin Kreuk who plays his love interest during his teenage years, Lana Lang. For me, they are the perfect couple on screen but then, sigh......throughout Season 1 to 6, their love life is like i-love-you-you-love-me-but-we-can't-be-together for the million reasons in the world.
Clark left Lana because he is afraid he will get her into trouble, Lana left Clark because she feels that Clark does not trust her (by not telling her his superpowers). There are many close encounters where both gave each other a chance, and the secret is revealed but in the end, Lana will end up having amnesia.
Now, way into Season 6 (spoiler ahead), Lana got married to Lex Luthor, Clark's nemesis. She did this to protect Clark as she was blackmailed by Lionel Luthor (Lex's father) because Lionel knew Clark's only weakness, kryptonite.

Jacky oh Jacky

Was it worth the wait? Braving the drizzle now and then, the traffic jam, those UNCIVILIZED people and the hungriness (as we all have not had dinner)? Was it worth those feel hours of tiredness?

Answer is : ABSOLUTELY 100% WORTH IT...
He came on stage at 9 pm, an hour late due to traffic congestion. The crowd screamed and keep calling his name. A few games session and some small talk about his album, he sang his newest hit- By Your Side. Had clear view of him as we were quite near the stage.
Then, autograph signing session. And I got to SHAKE his hands when he signed on my album. Gosh, he was so sweet and polite (he even said thanks). Really a good guy and a good dad to his 2 daughters. I was listening to his interview on radio earlier and he really loves his family.
Really sad also as cannot make it to his concert on 14th Sept as I will be away on that day....Sigh....Arethere any chances that it will be earlier or it will be postponed? Keep our fingers crossed.
Well, there are some bad experiences during those few hours. Some people actually do not know the meaning of NOT PUSHING and QUEUEING UP. Young or old alike.....Someone fainted and one aunty just tried to slip her way to the front while the crowd was distracted. Hmmm.....but really happy as it was an experience.

Melaka Trip 2007

Journey began at 0600 hour. First stop- Projet Tmn Connaught for some tidbits.
Journey continued all the way to Ayer Keroh rest area and stop for toilet breakies and lepak-ed for a while because it was way too early to reach Melaka.
Reached Ayer Keroh at about 0800. Undecided to go Melaka town for breakfast or not as someone wants to go for Zoo Melaka in Ayer Keroh which opens at 9am. Then, someone pointed to McD across the road, and off we went to McD. Everyone trying not to eat so much for we are to have brunch in town.

0900 hour, went across the road to the Zoo. Then someone decided to go Night Zoo. So off we went to Mini Malaysia. Being ripped off like what Andy said. But it serves as a good exercise for us to burn off the McD meal. Went to Bee farm as well and unlimited free testing of a variety of honey- including one called bee venom.
Reached Melaka town at 1100 hour. Headed straight towards Chung Wah shop for the infamous Chicken Rice Balls. Yummy....
Then it's time for some sight seeing. Though I have been to Melaka countless times, it was still an experience to walk around the church, St Paul and A Famosa. And in the process, took a lot of photos.

It was hot and definitely all of us are waiting to have Nyonya Cendol. Delicious......
Then, it was time to locate our hotel. At first, we wanted to check out the place Camilla mentioned in Melaka Raya. After a few turns here and there, it was decided that the place has closed down. So off we went to Straits Meridien.....Guess everyone was tired and all was sound asleep the moment we check in except for me and Chai Yee. Had some quiet time to read the novel I brought along.
At 1900 we were all seated at the Portugese Settlement. The last time I have been here was like 10 years ago. The place looks so different and the food suckssss.....So many stalls and competition. Only thing that is so memorable is the Mango Juice and dining at the seaside. Not any typical mango juice, this stall sells sour mango juice. It was so delicious and can't find in KL.

Next destination, Night Zoo. Well, let's just say that we are like young children, making a hell lots of noise, disturbing the animals and playing 'Let's spot the animals'. It was fun. After about 2 hours of fun, we headed towards Jonker street again. Hang out at Geographer Bar and met a quite unique man. Young at heart although he is oredi 60 years old (as he claimed). The environment is nice- live band, beers, 'Ah Kuas' doing some hot dancing. It was almost 1 am when we left for Satay Celup. The night ended at 3 am for most of us. The rest who stayed up, read about what they did in Su's blog. And this is the result the next morning.
The next day, it was food and more food. Cendol Durian at Tan Kim Hock and Nyonya Laksa. It was a good trip. Good food and good friends. Really enjoyed ourselves. I guess our annual trips will be Melaka, Genting and Penang, right? Can't wait for our next destination.....

Congrats to a close friend who got engaged last Sunday. Sorry I could not be there. Wishing you a beautiful journey ahead with the person you love.

Congrats Mai and thanks for always being there.

FIREFLies.....?

Another low cost carrier for Malaysia.......called FIREFLY...errrmmmmm....cute name, isn't it? Well, guess now EVERYONE can afford to fly....Good news for us.

Movies and more movies

For me, watching a good movie gives me a sense of satisfaction, just like having a good meal. A good movie will need to have that impact or effect on me after watching it. There are movies I have watched and totally forgot about it the next day but there are those that teach me a few lessons and indirectly made me see the truth that is out there. Depends on whether we want to accept it or not.

An Inconvenient Truth
Everyone (especially our generation) should watch this movie. It's more to a narrative documetary. And the narrator- Al Gore. I have always been passionate about conserving the environment, protecting mother nature but I know that I have not contributed anything. Watch this movie, my friends, though many will find it uninteresting but it shows what is happening to our earth now. We might not see the consequences of our actions yet but the next generation will. Visit www.climatecrisis.net for more info. So, start now by doing our own little part- print less, use less electricity, recycle.

Protege
Good movie, great cast (Daniel Wu....can't get enough of him) and simply shows us the real world of drug addicts and drug lords. Andy Lau gave a superb performance. One part of the script caught my attention- the part where Andy Lau said that no one forces the drug addicts to take drugs and it's not his fault to be a drug lord. If the demand stops, the supplies will. So, who is to blame, the people selling drugs or the people taking it? And I do agree that the part Daniel Wu screamed like a girl when he found the body is a bit over-reacted. Read this in www.kennysia.com. Hilarious. Overall, really a good movie.

Pay it forward
A must watch. Not a big budget, hyped up movie but just a simple movie that is trying to reach out to the people. You will know the meaning of pay it forward after you have watched this movie. Haley Joel Osment gave a fantastic potrayal of a simple little boy from a broken family, trying to do something to change the world. It started as a class assignment and he came out with the idea of helping 3 people, any 3 people and hope it will be passed on from these 3 people to 9 and then to 27 people and so on. It's just a simple deed that we can do each day and pass it on to the person we help. Imagine if everyone embrace this idea. The world will be a much better place to live it. Very touching movie and I have learnt a lot from it. Special apperance from Jon Bon Jovi as well. Tried to find the VDC or DVD but it's quite an old movie so not able to get it. Wish to share this movie with everyone.

Typical superhero story. I like Nicholas Cage. He can look so timid and innocent one moment and turn into a fearless superhero another moment. But his bike is supercoollll.....

Food and more food

Chinese New Year is long over. To many, it's the season to over-eat and gain a few pounds. Hehe....Including me I guess. But who can resist all the good and yummy food, right? Need to lose those extra weight gained...It's has been quite long since I blog about food.

Zang Toi lunch sets and ala carte (Sg Wang)
I can say that they do serve some of the better food in town. I had the chicken chop and it was satisfying. Heard that their nasi lemak set is very nice also. And all prices are affordable. Still the best is the melted choc and banana cake.

1920 and Luca's pizza- Curve
Both are Italian restaurants, I think. Nice environment but not recommended unless you are rushing for time and you can't get any other place to eat there. One thing good - their service are better because they seldom get any customers....

Hau Kee (Cheras) and Tak Fok (Kepong)
Typical chinese restaurant that offers variety dishes and seafood. Had salted egg prawn and salted egg crabs and it tasted great. Tak Fok is very well known for their cheese crab but to me, nothing beats Wong Poh's butter crab.

Ah tuan Ee (Penang Nyonya food) - Curve, Timesquare
Well, someone wanted to eat 'joo hu char' and I thought it's some special Penang food. Turn out it's the dish that my mum always make. And my mum's better that Ah Tuan Ee's. Nothing special here and the price is quite expensive.

Venezia (Taman Segar, Cheras)
One of the best Italian restaurant I've been to. Favourite dish - pizzas and risotto. Yummy....Reasonable price and they used to have a handsome 'Mat Salleh' waiter....:P

Best Cheese Naan in town (Taman Mayang, PJ)
It's the best Cheese Naan I have ever tasted. I used to think that the mamak near my palce serves good cheese naan but wait till you taste what this place have to offer. Melting cheese inside, dipped with 2 different curry and sweetened condensed milk.....Gosh....really nice. Thanks to a friend that introduces this place. It's one of SS2 Murni's branch according to him. They serve very good seafood spaghetti in carbonara sauce. I am willing to go all the way there just for the Cheese Naan.

Sushi king 'yee sang'
We brought Mai and Imran to try 'lo sang' for the first time in Sushi King. Not bad at all.....It tasted different from the normal yee sang but it's nice...with salmon too...:)

Well, it's definitely a satisfaction to have a good meal with delicious dishes and with people you care and love. Leaving you some pictures of the dishes me and mum prepared for the CNY...

And I was in Penang for the weekend and I had lots of BBQ.....CHICKEN BUTTS....hehe....never thought that I will try them but I did not regret. It was tasty....Will definitely go there again the nest time I go Penang.

I'm still happpyyyy.....

Still very happy......From last night...
Nice pic for a tattoo eh?

I am poisoned.....

OMG!!!!

I am totally so deeply poisoned. And I know it will be deadly (to my wallet at least).

It was a blast and it was worth the money spent.

He belted out all my favourite songs. And the duet with JJ (That's what friends are for)...it was so heartwarming. And highlight for me is the part he played the violin and the drum. It was fantastic....He can play so many musical instruments. Really talented lad.

Yes, you guessed it.....none other than Lee Hom.

It was a superb performance.

I never am so crazy about him but now I am basically drooling. And I have been watching YouTube on his MV all week long.

I am so happy now.Still feel the adrenalin rush....Pictures coming soon(thanks to Poh Wai for taking so many nice pictures).

*Give me the strength*

Damn...mail server hang so unable to do any work and what's worse is, have tonnes of work to do....*cry*cry*

Hmmm....many things on my mind lately. But when I am in front of the monitor now, cannot seem to put my thoughts into words.

Lately, my dad's health is not too good. Age catching up. He doesn't talk as much as last time and his hearing is not that good anymore. I remembered when I was young, dad used to give me piggy-back rides. My dad is quite thin and I was quite a chubby kid....so it must have been tough on him. I remembered dad used to bring me to fun fairs. And amusement parks. My dad is someone very loyal to one thing. And he is the MOST consistent person I have ever known. He goes to sleep at 9pm, wakes up at 5 am EVERY morning, takes a walk and then eats breakfast (white bread with jam) for as long as I can remember.

I am scared actually. I think I have taken my parents for granted. And I feel I do not know how to love them anymore. All along, I thought I am a good daughter but now I realised that I have not done anything much for them. And I am very disheartened. My dad used to always praise me in front of others but I have disappointed him and my mum. And the fact that I will lose them one day is haunting me now.

I might not know how to pray correctly but I pray to God to give me the strength to be a good daughter that both my parents put hope on.

Petronas ad this year

Happy Chinese New Year !!!!

Hmmm....how should I start this entry?

What about asking everyone the meaning of CNY?

Do you still feel the spirit of CNY when you were a child?

Honestly, I have never liked CNY. One simple reason, I do not fit in among my relatives.
Ever since I can remember, the first day of CNY will be spent at my aunt's house the whole day where everyone will gather. It is boring. Every year will be the same. Same questions by distant relatives, same topics of this and this. Well, I guess it's more to a tradition for us.

What I like about CNY is the preparation, the time spent with my family during shopping and cleaning the house, and the reunion dinner. It's nothing grand, just a simple dinner where mum will make the best vege and chicken. CNY will not be CNY without my mum's prawn and fish cracker and famous acar....:)

So wish all a Happy Happy Chinese New Year....Oink oink.....

Black Pepper Corn Chicken - Where is the corn?

Time : 1150am
Venue : D'Arif Restaurant in Streetmall

Had lunch with Mai the other day. We were happily eating away our lunch although the food were not nice at all....Then, was rushing to pay the bill as my 1 hour lunch break is almost up when we realised something missing....She ordered Black Pepper Corn Chicken....But.....
where is the corn? Somehow, I found it funny as we did not realise it while we were eating.....Sigh, but not enough time to complain....So, maybe the corn is inside the gravy....Hahahah.

BTW, food there is not nice. Not sure about other dishes but please do not try their special D'Arif Breaded Chicken Chop.....

Movies

I am such a movie-freak these days. Especially for romantic movies. Just made me cried.
Movies I've watched recently:

Death Note 2- The Last Name

Attempts to watch the first one was never successful because both versions I have, the subtitles are in Mandarin and French. But I really like the second one. The story is very interesting and like Chai Yee, I like the way they twist the story. Character I like most? Ryuzaki or L....So full of characteristic and style. I like....

The Holiday
A heart- warming story of two women, one in UK, another in The States, attempting to run away from the bad relationships that just ended. They found themselves an oppurtunity when they agreed on a house exchange programme. What captures me most is the character of Iris....:P
Anyway, the story could have focused more on Iris-Miles than Amanda-Graham.
Jack Black rocks and Jude Law is still hot....:)

Happy Valentine's Day .....

Sometimes I wonder, what is the meaning of Valentine's day nowadays. Does anyone know the story behind this day? Is it about over-rated celebration with someone you love? Is it about an expensive candle-light dinner at a fancy restaurant or the cut-throat bouquet of flowers or gifts?

Anyhow also, wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine! Muaakkkkssss.....

Happy Birthday
Story of a love not meant to be. Well, actually it could have been a very happy relationship but because of the lack of confidence and trust, it turn out not so good and in the end, it's all too late. Sad sad story and it made me cry so many times. Rene Liu looks a tad too old for the role she is playing....

Make sure the diamond you have now are conflict-free. This movie shows us how greed destroy humanity. Gruelsome truth that we never know till we watch it. Leonardo is a smuggler and brilliantly brings out the role he plays. Watch it if you have the heart for the truth.
