Fabulous food hunt...not!

A first time for us and we all agreed that there will be no next time.We love eating very much but if it's eating under pressure and the food is crappy, it's a totally the opposite feeling.
There's a story behind the name of our team...:P

In awe

For the hunt, we have to go around KL using public transportation and complete eating challenges.
We were very eager to start as we're anticipating good food and fun but from the very first challenge, I know it's not going to be fun.

Here are some of the challenges that we did (one person for one challenge):
1) Eat 3 pieces of roti canai (rock hard) and down a cup of teh tarik

Roti canai challenge

We have to pose with sign boards too!
2) Finish 10 sticks of satay (which is yummy for CY as it's her first challenge for the day!)
 Satay challenge
3) Finish 4 sticks of 'lok lok'
FL enjoying her steamboat
4) Down one plate of chicken rice (with a lot of rice!) and a glass orange juice
5) Finish a plate of mee rebus (which sucks!) and a big bowl of cendol
 Focus!
6) Eat a plate of white rice with grilled fish with some weird looking raw vege and jering (malay style rice)
Tasteless
 7) Eat 2 packs of nasi lemak with two eggs
 That's a lot of rice!
When we reach the 8th challenge, we're full up to our neck. Fortunately, we don't have to complete the 8th and 9th challenge as they've had the first 20 teams arrived. So automatically we're out of the game.
This is a game for big and fast eaters.

Dua sentral - our finishing point
Well, the day ended on a positive note though. It's a funny story for another day. Stay tuned!

PS : girls, when are we claiming our 'free' coffee?? :P

J&J Amazing Explore Hunt yr 2

Second year participating. Hoping to come back stronger this year but it was a let down. This year's hunt is less on cryptic questions (which we scored most of it :P). Most marks are from the challenges and there are 5 tough challenges. When I say tough, it was really tough lor...
Task 1: Climbing up KL tower
2 out of 4 of us have to complete this. It's not new to me and FL but we're not mentally prepared. Nonetheless, we made it to the top, passing many teams which were struggling half way. Then we need to look through the window using the telescope, and solve two questions. CY and KY who were at the base needs to solve some pictures clue.
Task 2: Penalty kick challenge
In the spirit of World Cup, they throw in a task that has something to do with footbal. We were given 3 attempts to kick a ball into a few holes. It's not as easy as it looks. We were not given any practice kicks. Not able to aim properly, most team failed to get any points here...us included.
Task 3: Paintball challenge
2 out of 4 need to perform this. We need to get 2 flags with 2 shooters trying to knock us out. With one the shooter focusing on each player, it's tough even trying to get past mid way. And most teams came out with bruises on their legs. After seeing so many failed attempts, we chicken-ed out. To save some time (LOL...it's actually to avoid the pain/bruises).
Task 4: Atlantis puzzle
One team member need to submerge underwater to get a glimpse of the puzzle at the bottom of the pool. 3 will be at the side. Verbally, the one in the water will have to instruct the rest to assemble the shapes same as per the one in the water. We were actually doing quite well but half way through, our puzzle was ruined by the water because we were too near the water edge.
Task 5: Final challenges
a. Find pebbles in a small tank filled with few small pythons. I took this task as I feel more comfy compared to doing task b. The 'geli' part is when after they blindfolded me, they put a big python on top of my shoulders. I can feel it's tongue on my arm....ticklish...
b. Transfer live, wiggling worms, with your mouth from one plate to another. I have to admit that it was quite gross. Applause to KY who managed to get a few mouthfuls.

Although we didn't win this time round, but it was a fun-filled day (except for the kns paintball). It was the experience that counts (and the lucky draws we got too, teeeheheheheh).

New addiction

I think I am addicted now...
Still learning to catch the clues and decipher them...
Guess I need to pay MORE 'learning fees'...
Treasure hunting anyone?

Detained

KUALA LUMPUR : The 3 convicts that police were looking for were nabbed recently. The trio, who were armed and dangerous, made themselves known as the McD gang. The gang is said to be involved in numerous cases, involving extortions and bullying people, road rage and daylight insults. Police have been looking for the gang for almost a year but they managed to fled from the police each time. It is said there could be another of the gang member still on the loose.

F1 Explorace - Cyberjaya to Melaka

9.00am - As soon as we were flagged off at Cyberjaya, we scrambled to open our first clue - match 13 pictures of F1 driver to their names and get the name of our next destination. I admit I am clueless on F1 and unfortunately so were most of my team members...but we managed to get to the next destination - Sepang Circuit - with some luck and smart guesses. There, we had to pose for our creative photo challenge with umbrellas and a flag.
Our next destination - Seremban R & R and the challenge is to pump RM 6.88 worth of Shell petrol. We managed to get RM 6.89...This is where we got our tulips and made our way to a eatery in Seremban.

Here, we took up another challenge aptly named - the F1 Squirt...Using empty bottles for chilli sauce (you know, those green and red ones found at restaurants), we have to squirt air and push a ping pong ball through a track. We had lunch here and got our next destination clue - by deciphering codes using 'dictionary' on our hands aka our handphones...

After some u-turns and wrong ways (due to technical error in the tulips), we managed to get back on track to Eagle Ranch near to Port Dickson. The go-karting challenge is easy but what came after that, I would never be able to forget.

It reminds me of Trailblazer sans the mud and jungle. 3 out of 4 team members have to work together to climb through some logs. After much huff and puff, pull and push, we managed to go climb through (sorry CK for leaving you behind), then to the swinging planks...and through a tyre and at one point we have to eat cili padi and wasabi and the last challenge is to dress up one team member in boots, gloves, helmets and jackets and feed him/her water without him/her doing anything and then finally help him/ her over a high wall. Not easy at all but it was fun!!! Laughed our ass off at some points. After completing these, it's time to make our way to Melaka with the tulips and the hunt questions.
4.00pm - We finally arrived at Jonker's street. The final challenge is to dip our hands in a tank of eels to collect pebbles to spell a word. I volunteered to do it. I didn't know why at that point I didn't feel nervous. They are slippery and slimy...That's all. If it's a tank full of insects, I will be screaming my lungs out. The final part of the hunt is a walk hunt along Jonkers. Lacking in time, we just collect whatever answers we can get. And at 4.49pm, we submitted our treasures and questions to the marshalls and headed towards Everly Resort.

Tiring 8-hours of journey followed by a dinner. It's amazing we still can find the energy to play some card games and have a little drinking session. And I didn't get drunk this time round...:P

Some IMPORTANT tips on being a navigator:
1) Read the tulips and instruct the driver which way to go (RIGHT or WRONG way, it doesn't matter, refer to 3)
2) Ensure driver is ALERT and AWAKE (you MUST do anything to keep him awake-including slapping him)
3) Be VERY confident on your direction (even if you are on the wrong track, APPEAR confident)
4) Ensure all your car members are ALERT and AWAKE (very DIFFICULT to achieve!!)
5) And last but not least - make sure yourself is fully ALERT and AWAKE (failed!!)

Hunters at work

Looking at the first question - 'Strange Tin Year', I know we are heading for more brain-cracking questions. Started from PJ (Kelana Jaya) all the way to Pulai Springs Resort in Johor, the hunt took us 8 hours. It was my first experience and I totally loved it. Though we got most of the answers...WRONG, it was a fun ride. And most of all, we only paid less than RM 100 for a one-night stay at the 5-star resort with breakfast and dinner provided.
The next day, it was our personal food hunt to Melaka. Didn't eat that much this time round. Most satisfying is the Melaka 'cendol'. I hail it as my all time favourite local dessert. And we had our movie-watching experience in Melaka at the newly opened Pahlawan Square's GSC. Nice, new and big cinema.
We will be back next year, hopefully...:P

PS: BTW, the answer for Question 1 is Ayer Hitam....
