30 mins to May

Almost midnight and I am still working. It's so not me....I think I'm out of my mind since last week. Working overtime and dedicating my after-office hours working my ass off. It's just so not me...
I've been having so many weird dreams recently. Not sure if it's related to all the stressful things to be completed in real life.
Sigh...I need a holiday...

Quotes

Some quotes from Cecilia Ahern's book - The Time of My Life:

"He was persuasive; life has a way of getting what it wants when it really knows what it wants."
"Someone once said, the world is a book and those who do not travel, read only a page."
"I don't know which is more pathetic, not having a dream or Googling other people's."
"As long as you're around, your life is too. So just as you shower love and affection and attention on the husbands, wives, parents, children and forever friends who surround you, you have to do so equally with your life, because it's yours, it's you and it's always there rooting for you, cheering you on, even when you feel like you can't do it."

Life oh life

Those who watches Grey's Anatomy season 8 will know what I'm talking about. This show never fails to make me cry once a while.
There is this particular episode about an old couple, who is about to celebrate their 50 years of marriage. On the day that  they are about to go for a cruise (a gift from their children), the husband had a heart attack and has to go through a coronary bypass. The wife is so so so worried, but the husband remains calm. He even asks the wife to wish him happy anniversary when he comes out of the surgery.
The surgery went well. As the husband wakes up and is anxious to see his wife again, the doc came and told him that his wife passed away when he was in surgery.
It's such a sad scene. It reminds me of Romeo and Juliet.
That's life. It can be cruel, it can be kind, it can be bitter, it can be sweet. It's just a matter of time when we have to face that moment where we will feel that nothing matters anymore. It's just a matter of time when we feel that we are the happiest.

Till then, treasure each moment and tell those you love, that you love them.

XOXO

Food Review:Pastis Cafe

I tried this a while back and was quite satisfied with the food, or rather, the dessert.
I ordered:
1. Chicken pie
It's hard to find a good chicken pie here in KL but this is surprisingly good! It comes with a generous scoop of yummy mash potatoes. some mashed green peas and mushroom sauce.

2. Bread and butter pudding with ice cream
One of the better tasting of bread pudding I've tried. I am not a big fan or bread pudding but I enjoyed this one.

I will definitely re-visit the place and try out other items on their menu.

jetlag

So this is what they call jet lag...

wide awake at 5am
nausea and loss of appetite
light headed during work

Did i tell you (hmmm..this seems to be a common phrase i use now) that I had diarrhoea on the day I was travelling back?
I think it's from the poached egg and salmon I ate for breakfast. Thinking back, I feel nausea again.
It was a bad flight experience. Vomit and went to toilet countless times. I guess I vomited all, thus nothing much to poo poo also....
Hot outside, cold inside. I took a few panadols. I skipped all meals on the 3 flights except for fruits. I skipped all entertainment. I was like a walking zombie in the airport. I just want to find a quiet corner in the lounges and once I plopped my butt on it, I went to zzz mode.
Luckily, I didn't miss any of my flights.

I survived 21 hours of flight time and 8 hours of waiting time in airports.

But it was an experience I don't want to go through again.

Ayam kambing bag

Two more days and I'll be in Malaysia.
I miss home. Seriously. It's only 3 weeks but I miss my bed.
It's so different travelling for work and for vacation. I guess if I am on vacation, I'll not want to come back so fast.
It's going to be a long travel time. Transit once in LA and then in HK. Total flight time 21 hours. Total transit time 6 hours.
Expecting a critical jet lag on Monday.
And panda eyes. *blink blink*

Soul surfer

Great movie....
About a girl surfer who lost one of her arm in a shark attack. This is based on a real life story.
It's inspiring.
So many times I've felt like giving up and breaking down but my problems are nothing compared to this girl's.
One quote from the movie that is etched in my mind:
"And I’ve learned that life is a lot like surfing. When you get caught in the impact zone, you need to get right back up because you never now what’s over the next wave."

Pressies

I can't wait to get back home. Anticipating the arrival of a new family member. I hope little Ah Bi can wait for me to come back before saying 'Hello World!'...

Sweet

At breakfast, there's this old couple in their 70's having breakfast at the table in front of me. I can't help but peek. They are so loving. Just chill-axing and eating their breakfast slowly. Occasionally sharing a joke or two, smiling and laughing quietly.Occasionally touching each other on the hand.
Such a sweet scene.
I noticed a lot of old couple downtown during the weekend too. Just strolling by the river and having meals at the restaurants. They are so relaxed and just enjoying the beautiful weather.
I wish to be like that when I'm at their age. No worries, no commitments. Just reminiscing the past and enjoying the present.

Little things that cheers up my day

People by the road side or in the cars must be wondering why this Asian girl is so fascinated with something that is a norm to them. To me, the Asian girl, it's not something I'll see back home. It's just so pretty that I have to take a photo, or two, or more...

My little project

So, what's keeping me busy these evenings? Nope, not 100% work. It's my little project, that I need to complete before the deadline of 15th April.
It's not perfect, I admit, far from it. I didn't put much effort in it. Should have started it few months ago. Sigh, procrastination!

Little white lies

Dear mum,

I am sorry I lied to you.
Everytime I call home, I have to bit my tongue to keep from spilling the beans.
No worries, I am all well here.
But I lied to you about coming here with a colleague when in fact, I am travelling alone.
I just don't want you to worry too much. I promise to be extra careful in everything I do.
I can't wait to go home. I miss home and I am all anxious to wait for little Ah Bi's arrival.

Don't worry about me so much, mum. I'll talk to you again tomorrow.

XOXO

Polygamy

I just watched a documentary on TV. It's about a guy who has 4 wives. And lots of children. Like 9 children and more to come soon as he juts got married, AGAIN.

He is still young, about mid 30's I think. Not bad looking at all.

Now, I know that's nothing unusual. Polygamy is normal and even certain religion allows it.

But what I feel so strange is, all his wives live together under the same roof. As a woman, I don't understand how they can share the man they love with another woman.

They even talk openly on how they feel about him, how they envy each other on the special connection each other them has with him.

It shows how this guy misses his wives at home when he's away on honeymoon with his new and latest wive, and she's pretty! And how his wives manages the children without him at home.

Gosh, I just feel that it's so weird.

My only solace now. Cheers me up big time...

how am i doing?

Bored! Can't wait for the weekend to go downtown!
Seriously. It's like staying and working in Cyberjaya. No place to eat, no place to walk walk, well, at least not within walking distance.
The only consolation is the small lake that I can jog every evening.
The hotel provides good breakfast but aside from that, the other menu sucks. My only option now is to order delivery everyday.
Since I arrive, weather has been unusually hot for Mrach, according to my colleagues here. It's about 25-28 degrees everyday. Good weather to jog. Hopefully it last till this weekend. Planning my walk and shopping tour.

Flying can make you fat!

For me, at least.
See, if you travel on business, you got a variety of food offered at the lounge. Mind you, you'll be tempted even if you've just had your breakfast or lunhc or dinner.
Then on board, you are served non-stop with snacks, alcoholic drinks, fattening food like beef, lamb, etc. Then, you do nothing but eat, then sleep, then eat, then sleep during the entire flight.
So you say lor, fattening or not??
But then, you can resist all those devil voices in your head and just say no!
Easier said than done though!
